Models and bring your own key
Model settings are available everywhere a card can choose a model. Add a key once and compatible models become available across every model dropdown.
Start with Auto
Auto chooses a model based on the role and run mode. Pin a model when you need repeatability, a specific context window, or a provider required by your organization.
Add a BYOK provider
Open Settings > Models and keys, then add an OpenRouter, OpenCode Zen, OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, Cerebras, Groq, or Mistral key under Bring your own API keys. The section is visible by default, and a confirmation notification tells you when compatible models are ready across model dropdowns. OpenCode Zen's currently free models use Codelit's shared key first. Your optional Zen key stays in the browser and is sent through the bounded memory-only relay only when shared Zen capacity is exhausted.
Replace a saved key without revealing it
After saving, the key input is cleared and Settings shows only the provider and final characters. Choose Replace to enter a new secret or Clear to remove that provider. Codelit never remounts the saved value into the page or sends it to password-manager autofill.
Control cost
The run cost control shows a range before execution and a line-item breakdown from the same estimator used in History. Dry run has no model cost, while user-funded modes charge the user's provider account.
